Yana
Violin
by Iana Iukhmanova

I was born in the cultural capital of Russia — Saint Petersburg — I grew up in a family of musicians and became a third-generation violinist. I began studying violin at a young age and was fortunate to learn under esteemed teachers: Ludmila Gurevich at the Rimsky-Korsakov Music College and Anatolii Reznikovsky at the Saint Petersburg State Conservatory.
About me
I'm a professional violinist- and music truly is my life (no exaggeration!). I find pure joy in playing the music I love and connecting with people through every note.

During my studies, I was invited to join the prestigious Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra, where I worked for 11 years, performing under world-renowned conductor Valery Gergiev. I was also a member of the Stradivari Ensemble, led by Lorenz Nasturica-Herschcowici

An honour to share the stage with Plácido Domingo
Touring with the Mariinsky Orchestra took me around the world — from the Royal Albert Hall at the BBC Proms in London to the Berlin Philharmonie, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and countless festivals such as the Ravello Festival (Italy), Yehudi Menuhin Festival (Switzerland), Gergiev Festival (Rotterdam), Mikkeli Festival (Finland), Berlioz Festival (France), and Beethovenfest (Bonn).
I’ve had the honour of performing with musical legends including Plácido Domingo, Anna Netrebko, Denis Matsuev, Vadim Repin, Yuri Bashmet, and Lucas Debargue. I’ve also accompanied contestants of the Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff Competitions, both live and on international broadcasts.

As a chamber musician, I earned 2nd prize at the Rachmaninov Chamber Music Competition as part of a string quartet, and participated in the Festival junger Künstler Bayreuth.
Now living in Perth, Australia, I continue to explore new artistic directions. I regularly perform with Fremantle Chamber Orchestra and Opus WA, and share my passion through private violin lessons.

Whether I’m performing timeless classical works, jazz standards, or pop favourites, my mission is always the same — to connect deeply with audiences and make music that resonates long after the final note.
